The Stüssy story.
It's hard to say whether Shawn Stussy in 1980 could have predicted where streetwear would be forty years later. But, it's safe to say that he knew original clothing and design would always be around.
Shawn is an all-around cool guy... he who would spend his summers surfing in California, then head to New York to spend those icy cold winters skiing. He must have known that people would like what he did with his clothes, because they seemed to really like the dude himself.
And, self-made project that it is, it couldn't have gotten where it is today without a team of designers and influencers to keep everything running. With a focus on limited runs and classic shapes and staples, it's not a stretch to say that this sense of self and awareness puts them right alongside many high-fashion labels. There's something for everyone at Stussy... skaters, surfers, hip-hop, and punk kids alike.
The fashion label has remained true to its roots to this day. The iconic Stussy lettering is just as important as the overall image of the brand, the latter of which is constantly being reinvented and shifting with the times. Stussy is here to stay.
